What Inspires Me to Write Children’s Books and YA Novels

As an indie author of children’s books and young adult novels, I’m often asked where my ideas come from — what truly inspires me to write. For me, inspiration doesn’t strike like lightning. It’s more like a quiet whisper — a memory, a feeling, or a small everyday moment that refuses to leave my heart.

I write children’s stories because I believe childhood is where imagination, empathy, and kindness begin to grow. Writing for kids allows me to share stories filled with warmth, hope, and wonder — tales that encourage creativity and remind young readers that kindness never goes out of style. Whether it’s a story about a ballerina who can't dance, a magical garden full of surprises, or a loyal dog who changes everything, each book begins with a simple “what if?” and a spark of curiosity.

When I write YA fiction, my focus shifts to the emotional journey of growing up — those teenage years that are messy, confusing, and beautifully transformative. My young adult novels explore friendship, courage, mental health, and finding your place in the world. Books like The Dog Who Found Me invite readers to reflect on love, loss, and second chances — themes that resonate with both teens and adults who remember what it felt like to be sixteen and searching for yourself.

At the heart of all my writing is one belief: stories can heal. They remind us we’re not alone. They help us see that even the smallest acts of love, honesty, and forgiveness can change everything.

Writing is my way of giving back the light that books once gave me. If even one reader feels seen, understood, or comforted by my words, then that’s the greatest reward of all.
